Molcajete and La Campana Awards

MASBA believes there are many heroes who have stepped up to assure all the children of Texas get a proper and equitable education. Each year, we honor several of these outstanding individuals with the La Campana and Golden Molcajete awards.

The molcajete is and has always been a major utensil in the homes of Mexican American families. The proper mixing of necessary ingredients come together and creates a perfect outcome that makes the difference. And so the "Golden Molcajete" award for MASBA, symbolizes the coming together of the proper ingredients necessary to attain a major accomplishment as it relates to education. This prestigious recognition is awarded each year at MASBA's Summer Reception held in San Antonio, TX.   The MASBA La Campana Award was established to honor and recognize an individual or organization who “answers the bell” by contributing to the MASBA vision of Advocating Quality Education for All. The La Campana represents countless hours, commitment and advocacy in ensuring the betterment of education is available to all. This honorable recognition is awarded each year at MASBA's Annual Conference.
